The Maiden's Tower is an ancient fortification towering on a rock in the coastal part of the "Old City" of Icheri Sheher in Baku. The tower is a symbol of the capital of Azerbaijan, since 2000 it has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The tower is surrounded by a fortress wall with semicircular ledges. This unique building has no analogs in the East. Now the tower is a museum, at the top, there is an observation deck with a panoramic view of the city.
Inside the tower is divided into 8 floors, interconnected by a winding stone staircase. Interestingly, as such, there is no connection between the first and second floors; a temporary staircase is installed on the lower floor. The windows in the tower are narrow and small, installed only along the stairs. Also inside the tower, there is a well that can provide water to visitors to this day.
You should definitely visit this unique place and see it personally. This ancient building of the city of Baku has no analogs in the entire East.
